 Embroidery is a handicraft art when the pattern of thread or beading is done on fabric or other material.  People use the art since ancient times. For example, in Ancient Greece clothes of the people were decorated with embroidery. In the Middle Ages, this needlework has become very popular. Embroidery was a favorite amusement of the aristocracy such as court ladies and royalty. Famous artists of the time created patterns, and experienced masters used them in decorations.

Needlepoint is a real art which gives you a pleasure. You can do the needlework choosing any difficulty level. You can create a small decoration on clothing or a huge embroidered picture, a replica of the original artwork from the small stitches.

Needlework is a laborious work, but rewarding. Embroidered pictures look cosy as they are made by hand and they have received from quilters all warmth and positive emotions.

You can use different threads for embroidery, for example,  silk, floss, wool, metallic, gold, silver, etc. For needlepoint, you can also use beads, beads, glass beads, coins, semiprecious and even precious stones.

Most commercial needlework kits recommend use cross stitch or half a cross stitch (for creating tapestry), although Victorian cross stitch and random long stitch are also used. Authors of books of needlepoint designs sometimes use a wider range of stitches.

You can use hoops to stretch the fabric during needlework.

It’s good idea to have special scissors with a narrow and sharp blade. There are the best for cutting threads, as well as in order to flog the mistakes in the embroidery.

You should have a variety of needle. Cross-stitching needs a blunt needle with a wide eye sizes 24, 26, 28, which can be embroidered accordingly on the canvas on 14, 16 and 18 sizes. Needle with a sharp tip is needed for French knots, Hungarian point stitch, Old Florentine stitch. Needle for beads should be long and thin with a small ear. It can be used to sew any beads or rhinestones.

Marker or pencil for embroidery, washed with water or disappearing in a few hours himself, will be very helpful for a beginner in the embroidery. With it, you can just grid the fabric into squares make the needlepoint process easier.
